General Description:

The Production Lead is responsible for overseeing the technical production operations and General Operations for the department in the Oceanside production facility for MagnaFlow.

Responsible to support and maintain KPI controls for safety, quality, customer service, efficiency, data collection and training of direct labor production personnel to achieve customer quality and delivery demands. Maintains direct responsibility to lead, motivate, inspire, coordinate and collaborate with Engineers, Supervisors and Managers in order to drive discipline, best practices and a world class continuous improvement culture to help the team attain and sustain the highest levels of operational excellence.

The Production Lead primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Be a role model for safety, environmental and health strategies, policies, practices and behaviors.
  • Actively participates and supports all Safety activities and initiatives
  • Ensures the safety of the crew by enforcing proper Personal Protective Equipment and Dress Code rules throughout the department(s).
  • Lead by example to maintain acceptable 5S standards and discipline levels.
  • Ensuring that 100% housekeeping is maintained by the use of 5S philosophy (Proactive Approach), keeping areas clean and aisles free of unnecessary items and WIP.
  • Ensure all products and components meet Quality Standards according to SOP’s.
  • Drives First Time Quality (FTQ) process in all areas
  • Delivers acceptable scrap controls and metrics
  • Checking and inspecting work of crew by conducting continuous QA audits.
  • Ensuring the proper movement of material in accordance with the schedule, while meeting the hourly, daily, and weekly production output targets for the department.
  • Ensuring internal and external customer needs are met by producing departments which meet quality specifications and customer (internal and external) expectations.
  • Utilizing the company resources including machinery, tooling, and human resources to meet the schedule.
  • Ensuring that all material entering and exiting the department’s area are properly identified and accounted for in IFS system (ERP) in accordance with ISO rules and procedures.
  • Assisting in continuous process improvement, Kaizen events, training, sustainability, etc.
  • Setting up, instructing, and maintaining efficient workflow.
  • Ensuring proper training of employees in job duties and functions, utilizing Training Database.
  • Print schedule every day and communicate priorities with crew and planner
  • Printing out all the drawings according to schedule
  • Filling out shop Routers for each component
  • Ordering materials according to pick list requirements
  • Tag baskets with correct WIP
  • Report all produced parts in IFS
  • Issue all the material to the shop order
  • Communicate with engineers any issues with materials, parts, tools or equipment (pipe, flanges, and fixtures, etc).
  • Report any damages with fixtures and tooling.
  • Order any tools or cleaning supplies needed for the department
  • Recommending measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of


  • Conducts daily team meetings to discuss the schedule, problems, solutions, and improvement


  • Ability to lead a working crew without constant supervision
  • Ability to follow, understand and carryout directions both verbal and written
  • Must be able to properly communicate in a respectful and professional manner
  • Ability to Multi-task with excellent sense of urgency
  • Talent to anticipate problems and communicate to Management
  • Ability to work under pressure in a high pace manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work extended hours as necessary by demand
  • Basic Mathematics calculations
  • Ability to read 2D cad drawings
  • Basic computer skills
  • Basic Leadership training
  • Ability to use measuring devices (caliper, tape measure, etc..)
  • Bilingual skills a plus

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to sit and stand intermittently, use a keyboard, climb stairs occasionally, and lift up to 25 pounds with or without accommodations.
